On November 2, 2013, UVM COM Fellows attended the 2013 Schweitzer Leadership Conference.
This year’s national Schweitzer Leadership Conference took place on November 2nd in Boston. The conference: “Building Healthier Communities: The Power of One” featured Regina Benjamin, 18th Surgeon General, as the keynote speaker. She was joined by many other presenter and session leaders who spoke on a variety of topics ranging from the impact of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act on health equity; to innovative technology uses to improve health outcomes; to how race, gender, age, and environment shape health.
This year, seven UVM COM Schweitzer Fellows were able to attend the conference. They found it to be very thought-provoking, and a valuable opportunity to learn from leaders who are shaping the way we think, talk, and act when it comes to health equity, health care, social change, and public policy.
